Somerton Road
9 September, 2026
Iwan WALTERS (Greenvale) (10:03): It was a joy to join so many constituents on Friday to announce that a re-elected Caroll Labor government and I will duplicate Somerton Road from Greenvale to Roxburgh Park Drive, with a $494 million investment in 4 kilometres of new road. Somerton Road will be widened from two lanes to six lanes, with new, safer intersections in Meadow Heights, Roxy and Greenvale and new shared pedestrian and bike paths. I have been fighting for this commitment for our community because it matters so much to so many across Meadow Heights, Greenvale, Roxburgh Park and beyond. If I am back here next year on the government benches, this project will start next year.
The Somerton Road upgrade will build on my record of delivery for our community: Greenvale Reservoir Park reopened; Mickleham Road stage 1 funded and delivered; Mickleham Road stage 2 fully funded, with early works underway; and now Somerton Road. This $494 million commitment is so important to ensure that our local roads are safe and able to serve our growing community. Other parties are full of empty talk, but they never commit, fund or deliver anything in the north. I fought for this commitment, and I know it matters so much to our community across the electorate of Greenvale. Only I and a Carroll Labor government will duplicate Somerton Road.
